It all began with one horse, one problem, and one decision to find a kinder way.
When I bought my horse Pie, he passed a 5-stage vetting — but there were small signs he might be prone to sarcoids: some facial scarring and a tiny lesion on his leg. At the time, I didn’t think much of it. Like many owners, I’d heard of sarcoids but didn’t understand how quickly they could escalate.
Within just a few months, sarcoids began growing near his eye — and within weeks, they’d quadrupled in size. I contacted my vet straight away. We discussed the usual options: laser therapy (too risky due to the location), surgery (not enough skin to stitch), and caustic creams. But Pie was already head-shy from past treatments and I didn’t want to put him through more stress. The vet recommended a specialist — and while I waited, I started researching.
I began formulating my own natural herbal cream. Just once a day, I applied it gently and monitored the results. Within a few weeks, there was visible improvement. I refined the recipe, adjusting the herbs and ratios until it was stronger but still gentle. After four months, the sarcoids were completely gone.
When the vet returned for a follow-up, he was speechless. “This can’t be the same horse,” he said. But it was. And Pie was thriving.
That moment was the start of Horse Aid Products.
